All our tutors are passionate about education and the importance of providing students with the confidence needed to succeed. We understand that the majority of students that ask for tutoring, need to develop the resilience to just ‘have a go’ and work through hard multi step problems.
Our growing team is made up of Highly Qualified and Experienced British Maths teachers based in the UK. We support both UK and overseas students at all levels; 11+ prep, GCSE, A Level Maths and Further Maths, and Maths modules in a range of undergraduate courses at university. We can also provide support with preparation for the MAT and CMAR entrance exams for Oxbridge and Kings.

Lucy Bishop – GCSE Maths Specialist (Year 7-11)
Hi, I’m Lucy – a mum of 3, a wife, a teacher, and now business owner and founder of LB Maths Specialists. I am a qualified Maths teacher and examiner, with 15 years classroom experience, and 8 years tutoring experience; I have enjoyed a fast-paced career having been Curriculum Lead, Head of Department and most recently a Lead Practitioner of Maths. As my family expanded, I chose to spend less time in the classroom and more on tutoring, finally leaving the classroom in Summer 2024.
I am patient, empathetic and calm. I quickly develop a rapport with my students so they feel comfortable working with me. I work hard with the students to fill gaps in their understanding while also finding their strengths to provide more challenge in these areas.
I am excited to be building a business that works with equally well qualified tutors that display similar personal traits that are crucial for developing a good relationship with students to ensure they reach their potential.

Holding two degrees in English Literature, she offers a rare breadth of expertise across all ages, supporting children from their first phonics lessons through to the analytical rigors of the Secondary English curriculum.
What will Fliss offer in her tutoring sessions?
- Primary Foundations: Building the essential building blocks in reading, writing, and numeracy that form the basis for all future learning.
- Neurodiverse-Friendly Approach: Implementing proven SEN strategies, including sensory breaks, visual scaffolds, and children’s own interests to ensure every child feels seen and supported.
- Individualized Pacing: Breaking down complex literacy and numeracy concepts into manageable steps that match the student’s unique learning speed.
- Confidence Building: Creating a low-pressure environment where students feel safe to make mistakes and ask the “silly” questions that lead to breakthroughs.
“As both a teacher and a mum to a child with ADHD, I know ‘one size fits all’ doesn’t work. I combine my passion for teaching and experience in Special Needs with a compassionate, child-focused approach to ensure every student feels understood and empowered to reach their potential.”
Ian H – GCSE & A Level Maths Specialist (Year 7-13)
Ian has been a qualified Maths teacher for over twenty-five years and during his teaching career, he has undertaken a number of additional roles in school.

My lessons are always planned and the topics are mapped out to ensure continued progress. I feel students quickly become at ease during our sessions and are soon willing to tackle subject content that can look daunting!”
